To mark its role as the official beer and Cidre of The Championships Wimbledon, Stella Artois has created the ultimate experience for tennis and beer fans alike, launching to coincide with the start of the nation’s favourite tennis tournament.
Taking inspiration from its new TV commercial; starring Wimbledon legend Rufus the Hawk who skilfully protects the perfect courts year after year, Stella Artois is bringing tennis enthusiasts an unprecedented view of the famous All England Lawn Tennis Club, through the eyes of the famous hawk himself.
Using Oculus Rift and immersive 360° technology, Stella Artois together with Mother London has created a series of ways for people to experience one of SW London’s most famous and celebrated views for a full multi-sensorial experience not to be missed as tennis fever grips the country.
For a fully immersive and unusual Wimbledon experience, head to London Waterloo station between 29th June – 2nd July (9am – 7pm) to take part in the Stella Artois Perfect Flight experience. The pop-up simulator allows participants to become Rufus as they wear headphones and goggles for a fully 360°, multi-sensorial view of Wimbledon’s most famous sights, through the eyes of this legendary feathered character. Captured using cutting-edge drone technology, ‘The Perfect Flight’ experience promises to make participants feel as though they’re spanning their wings and flying over the historic grass courts, past the jubilant crowds, and weaving in and out of some of the greatest tennis battles ever played.
Stella Artois will also be making this experience more widely available, so tennis fans can experience Rufus’ unique view again and again. The Perfect Flight app will launch at the Play Store for Android devices* on 29th June, with the App Store to follow soon after.
The app, which uses new Google Cardboard technology, will offer users an identical experience to that on offer at London Waterloo. Simply download the app, set up the cardboard goggles – a limited number of which Stella Artois will be giving away at the London Waterloo experience – and you can Fly as Rufus from the comfort of your living room, while enjoying a perfect pint of Stella Artois.
